In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The opening to our horror film uses forms and conventions of real media products effectively through the idea of having frightening, dark scenes which shows the idea of a stereotypical horror being filmed where the lighting is poor. As well as this, our final media product uses conventions such as short clips to create a dramatic effect and enable fear through the sharp clips by having constant fade-to-blacks as it could represent the repeat of somebody being in and out of consciousness. This is also viewed from the audience's perspective making it even more real for them as they feel like its happening to them and they are there.
One way in which our final media product challenged the conventions of real media products is that we revealed quite a bit of useful information in just the opening to set the scene and form the beginning of the film. This is not commonly done in horrors as some audience members would see no point in watching the rest of the film. However, the basis of our horror was displayed to set the scene and form a background for the film to progress from. Not enough was released to ruin the film as the message of jealously between the four friends was all that was exposed to view.
