Costumes:
The stalker and villain in our horror opening would be dressed in dark clothing so that they wouldn't be visible. They are most likely going to be wearing a black hoodie. The colour black signifies a lack of identity to the killer and this creates a mysterious element as the audience and characters fear the unknown of the evil being. The three teenage girls will be dressed in normal teen clothing to show their vulnerability and the idea that they are normal and ordinary. This increases fear with the Psychological sub-genre because it shows the reality of the opening and how what happens in the opening can happen to anybody. This was the idea behind using three teenage girls because in society they are deemed to be the weakest and defenseless. The colours of their clothes would be light and bright to signifiy their innocence and purity of being three normal teenagers whos lives change dramatically. Hair and Makeup: The villain in my horror opening would not require any makeup or special hair to show their character as it is covered by their hoodie which automatically becomes their identity. Though if I were to make the opening develop further into the film, I could release clues about the stalker like the colour of their hair by having a wisp of it fall beyond the hood. When the face is finally revealed, the motives of the villain could possibly be shown through the makeup. If they have a scarred face, it could be implyed that the kidnapping of the girl is some form of revenge. The three teenagers would most likely have natural to no makeup to show the conventions of them being teenagers and being fairly normal victims. Their hair would also be current and trendy to show their innocence and vulnerability of being young adults. |
Props: The villain in the opening to the horror has a prop that would be referred to as a convention of them. We have decided to use a normal kitchen knife to establish the harsh element that paychological horror has to do with every-day life. The stalker will drag the sharp knife along the railings to create a spine- chilling effect, ensured to make the audience feel uncomfortable and fear the worst. The three victim teenagers may have props such as handbags to imply their normality and emphasise how anybody could be in danger due to the psychological element of reality. The colours of their props would be mainly light and natural as we want ot put emphasis on the idea that the girls are normal. After the events of the kidnapping happens, there could be a shot of the deserted handbag to create the fear that the girl is gone and left things, she as a teenager may find important, behind. However, it could also suggest that hope is gone for the girl as the abandond handbag reflects her being lonely and forgotten. |
